According to an article from IGN,

“Nintendo’s 1st quarter results for its fiscal year ending March 2021 have revealed some impressive details, including that Animal Crossing: New Horizons has sold over 22 million copies, that the switch has sold over 61 million units, and that Nintendo’s net profits year-on-year have grown by over 500%.”

This is no surprise.

When Animal Crossing first released, it was trending all over social media with people sharing their experiences. With the holiday on the way, it’s clear that the sales for Animal Crossing and the Nintendo Switch are going to soar even more.

With 22 million sales, Animal Crossing has surpassed Super Smash Bros Ultimate (19.99 million copies sold) and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (18.60 million copies sold) to become the second best-selling game on the Nintendo Switch.

To say that this is impressive is an understatement. In a few months, Animal Crossing will be on pace to outsell the number one game on the Nintendo Switch, Mario Kart Deluxe, which has sold a total of 26.74 million copies.

As we get closer to the holiday, sales for the Nintendo Switch and the most popular games on this handheld are only going to rise. With new Nintendo Switch games coming soon, including, Breath of the Wild 2 and Metroid Prime 4, sales are only going to continue to soar.
