After a long period of waiting we now know who will play Joel and Ellie in The Last of Us HBO show, based on the critically acclaimed video game series.
Fans have been putting out suggestions on who they thought would be a great fit for the role after the announcement of the show’s creation back in March last year. Now, we finally know who will play two of the most beloved video game characters ever created.
Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian, Game of Thrones) is set to play Joel and Bella Ramsey (Game of Thrones) is set to play Ellie in this post-apocalyptic world filled with people infected by cordyceps and others who are trying to survive.
Backed by two seasoned writers, Neil Druckmann (head writer of The Last of Us video games), and Craig Mazin (Chernobyl creator), The Last of Us HBO series will explore Joel and Ellie’s decisions as they try to survive a journey across the U.S.
The Last of Us HBO show will stay true to the narrative that was already established in the video games, however, this will be an opportunity to flesh out more information on already known plots. According to an article from The Guardian, “the script will also include events from The Last of Us 2, which is set five years after the original game.”
