Sony understands something about gamers. They understand that gamers are enthralled by the opportunity to take a peek behind the curtain and see how games are made. Sony understands that witnessing the process behind making games can be just as exciting as playing the game itself and with the Raising Kratos Documentary, Sony bridged the gap between gamers and the directors for an exciting and provocative experience.
Kratos has always been a staple of anger, rage, and brute strength, and it’s apparent that he still possesses those qualities in the new God of War. The difference between old Kratos and the current Kratos is the fact that he went through a growing process after getting married and having a child, which completely reshaped his thinking and changed him.
This is a similar experience to what Cory Barlog, the director of God of War, went through. Before returning to Sony Santa Monica Studios, Barlog had gotten married and had a child as well, which is parallel to the growing process Kratos went through.
Barlog on Recreating Kratos
“We were trying to figure out what we wanted to do. I know that what we wanted to do was not going to just make another God of War game.”
“…I kind of started thinking about this idea that if Kratos ever got a second chance, you know, this idea of, like, when I had a kid I felt like my perspective on everything changed.”
This theme is apparent from the very beginning of God of War, and this experience between parent and child is relatable to so many gamers out there.

It’s interesting to see the struggles the Santa Monica crew went through in the process of recreating Kratos. We see struggles of layoffs, watch the process of auditions, music scores, doubt and a lot more.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the years, it’s that transparency is a vital part of growing relationships. Getting a view of this entire process makes my connection to God of War even stronger, and all I want to do is replay it again through a new lens.Â

Please , what a waste of time .
They had this type of documentary on every major God of War game. Has nothing to do with Sony and everything to do with Santa Monica Studios.
