When we all got the news that Bethesda was partnering with Microsoft and Xbox, we all knew that there would be exclusives coming at some point. Despite the outrage from some gamers, exclusive games are one of the main ways that Xbox can bridge the gap with PlayStation. Now the time has come and fans have gotten a first-hand look at one of the newest projects from Bethesda, a Sci-Fi role-playing game called Starfield.
What is Bethesda’s Starfield?
Starfield is another role-playing game that will allow players to create the character that they want as they begin a journey to travel the galaxy. Though we didn’t get to see a whole lot when Starfield was showcased on the Microsoft stage at E3, there is still plenty of information out there to dissect.
For starters, we know that Starfield was created by the team who brought us Skyrim and Fallout 4, two award-winning, critically acclaimed video games. Featuring a brand new engine, Starfield will be the first time Bethesda branches out into a new universe in 25 years.
Starfield Will Be Exclusive to Xbox and PC
As you would expect, not all Bethesda fans were happy about Starfield being an exclusive game and the SVP of Bethesda, Pete Hines, showed empathy for those disgruntled. Recently, Pete Hines took to Twitter to apologize to the fans who were upset about Starfield’s exclusivity. Now, days after the apology, Pete Hines has further clarified that he wasn’t apologizing for the fact that Starfield is an exclusive game, he was apologizing for the fact that fans were upset about this announcement.
Pete went on to say, “I don’t ‘have to do anything. Some of our fans are upset/angry, and I’m sorry they are. That isn’t wrong, or weird. It’s acknowledging how they feel. That’s it. That’s my whole point.”

What is the release date for Starfield?
Starfield is scheduled for a release date on November 11, 2022. It will be free for game pass users on both Xbox and PC, so most fans will have the opportunity to play day one with their subscription. With a brand new IP, it’s safe to say that there will be all eyes on Bethesda come next winter, and fans will be able to test the waters, before committing to a full game purchase.
