A few weeks ago, Volition announced the new Saints Row reboot with an awesome trailer showcasing some of the outrageous antics we’ve all come to appreciate from the franchise. In typical Saints Row fashion, the trailer featured a lot of explosions, off-the-wall driving, and some crazy weaponry. If you’re already a fan of the franchise then you know what to expect from a Saints Row game, but after watching this trailer, things may be even more exciting and absurd with this new Saints Row reboot.
Saints Row Reboot Trailer
What To Expect?
We’ve all seen those video game trailers that just look nice. They showcase a lot of freerunning, two-handed pistol shooting, and a lot of other amazing gameplay mechanics that, if done right, would make any gamer perk up in an instant. When it’s time to play that particular game, you quickly realize that the gameplay is absolutely nothing like the cinematic trailers you watched before. There are plenty of examples of games like this but the most recent would probably be cyberpunk 2077.
However, I don’t get that feeling from this new Saints Row trailer. Saints Row has garnered a reputation that has solidified their whacky antics as a normal style of play within this franchise. I have no reason to doubt that I would be able to do each and every stunt performed during the trailer. I mean, previous saint row titles have allowed you to do pretty much anything you could think of and each addition to the franchise has only added to the previous game’s craziness. Imagine taking those same styles of gameplay and adding next-gen capabilities to it. Does the mere thought of that get your hair raising?
According to an article from Gamespot, “these events are inspired by action films such as John Wick and Baby Driver, and the car combat sequences won’t have any cruise control.”
With new graphic capabilities and a more powerful engine, just imagine how much more we could do in the Saints Row universe. Plus, the previous Saints Row games allowed players to enjoy co-op game sessions and wreak havoc on unsuspecting civilians and enemies. This time around we will be able to play with a buddy in the new Saints Row Reboot too!
In the past, I expressed how disappointed I was about the previous Saints Row games. If you played Saints Row 1 and 2, then you would remember how the gameplay was mostly straightforward with a little craziness added in from time to time. From Saints Row 3 and on, the games began to build this reputation of crude humor and over-the-top gameplay that I wasn’t so inviting to in the beginning.
So what changed?
You can’t help but appreciate what the developers of the Saints Row franchise have done. To make an attempt to completely reinvent a successful game series and keep pushing the boundaries is commendable, to say the least. I’m sure most will agree that that the games are pretty fun in their own way. So, this new Saints Row game should be no different. It will be interesting to see what type of storyline the developers will come up with after they introduce brand new characters, weapons, and flashy mechanics. Most importantly, how will they top themselves this time around? Even though I enjoyed Saints Row 2 a lot more than the rest, I’ll still be willing to see what Volition will do with the latest addition to the franchise.
Release Date
The new Saints Row reboot is scheduled to be released on February 25, 2022. As always, thanks for reading. Stay Gritty, Gamers!
