Far Cry 6: 4 Exciting Things You Didn’t Get From The Announcement Trailer

On July 12, Ubisoft released the announcement trailer for Far Cry 6 and we got the first look at the main antagonist and his son. Fans were quick to notice that Anton Castillo is played by Giancarlo Esposito, most famous for his role as Gus in the Breaking Bad series.

While there are plenty of things that fans may have caught during this trailer, there are sure to be a couple of things that the trailer alone may not have made clear.

Here are 5 things that you may not have known about Far Cry 6.

Far Cry 6 Will Feature A Dog Named Chorizo

Welcome to Yara!

Just look at this little guy!

In Far Cry 6, players will have “amigos,” which are pet companions that join you during your battles. The first amigo we see is a cute little sausage dog named Chorizo, who honestly, looks too adorable to hurt anyone.

According to an article from Stevivor, during an interview with Navid Khavari (Narrative director of Far Cry 6), Chorizo will “kill ’em with kindness.” I don’t know about you, but this explanation brings up images of a dog distracting enemies with his puppy dog eyes before going in for the kill.

“In its past life, Yara was a prosperous nation and a tropical paradise that attracted travelers from all over the world, excited to explore its lush jungles, pristine beaches, and sprawling capitol city.” – Ubisoft

Is Far Cry 6 A Prequel?

A lot of Far Cry 6 fans have come up with the theory that Diego, the child antagonist portrayed in the Far Cry 6 announcement trailer, is actually Vaas (Far Cry 3) when he was a child.

While it’s still too early to confirm or deny this theory, people are rallying behind it nonetheless, hoping that it’s true. I’ve said many times before, that Vaas is the most entertaining villain I ever had to go against in a video game. It would be nice to see an origin story for my all-time favorite villain, however, I don’t think Far Cry 6 is a prequel for Vaas.

The main similarity between Vaas and Diego is the fact that they share an almost identical scar above their right eye. The scar on their face is the only similarity that I notice. If you take a closer look, Vaas and Diego have completely different facial structures, so it’s highly unlikely that they are the same person.

Take a look at the picture. What do you think?

Further feeding the hype, actor Michael Mando, who played Vaas, tweeted out the word “Insane,” followed by the mind-blown emoji, after the cinematic trailer release. Whether this is a marketing scheme by Ubisoft or Mando’s genuine surprise at the newest Far Cry game is unclear.

Mando may be as much of a fan of the series as we are, so we don’t know the true purpose of his tweet.

Diego Is Voiced By A Disney Star

If you’re a fan of Disney movies, you may have recognized that Diego Castillo is voiced by a familiar voice actor.

Anthony Gonzalez, the voice of Miguel in the Disney Pixar movie Coco, will also voice Diego Castillo. With the inclusion of two successful voice actors, it’s clear that Ubisoft is putting a lot into the villains of the latest installment into the Far Cry series.

Far Cry has always featured the most provocative villains within their video games. Their narcissistic ways have added fuel to an already enticing plot and refreshing gameplay. With the first look at the newest antagonists, we can already see that Ubisoft is setting the bar high with this father and son duo.
