Horizon Forbidden West Won’t Be A PS5 Launch Title

This month we got our first look at Horizon Forbidden West during Sony’s highly anticipated, PlayStation 5 event. Seeming to push the technology of the next-gen console, Horizon Forbidden West looks amazing as we get to see new enemies, environments, and even Aloy diving underwater to explore the depths below. So, when can you expect to get join Aloy on her next journey?

At first look, we can see how Guerrilla Games are pushing the new technology of the PS5 with the use of weather in the trailer. Most noticeably, the the rotating sandstorms that Aloy passes by during her journey give us a hint of what to expect from the environment.

Although the exact release date for Horizon Forbidden West hasn’t been announced yet, Guerrilla Games is aiming for a 2021 release date. According to an article from IGN, Horizon Forbidden West will take full advantage of the PlayStation 5’s SSD and there will be “virtually no loading screens,” director Mathijs de Jonge says during a commentary trailer of Horizon Forbidden West.
