Captain Spirit Is An Emotional Rollercoaster

The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit is the interactive, story-driven game developed by Square Enix as a prequel to Life Is Strange 2. When you first get into the game, you are greeted by fluffy white snow trickling down from the tall trees. We are introduced to Chris, a 10-year-old boy, who uses his imagination to cope with the turmoils of his life.

The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit sends you on an emotional rollercoaster as you try to piece together the puzzle of Chris’ life. As you explore his room, you get the idea that Chris is a very imaginative child. Colorful drawings of robots, superheroes, and monsters decorate his walls. Just like any young child, he has a litter of toys tossed around the floor. Chris uses his imagination to plan out his day. Things like turning on the water heater become, “destroying the water eater,” which happens to be a dark monster that resides in the “dark room” in his house that controls the water temperature.

Chris wakes up with the plan to create the costume for his Captain Spirit persona. Normally, interacting with objects will prompt you to either look at it or actually pick it up, but sometimes you are given the opportunity to do a special interaction, where Chris uses his special Captain Spirit powers to male the interaction more fun. Turning on the television, Chris will point his hand at the TV simultaneously making sound effects with his mouth, as if he is using his mind to power it on.
