Let me start by saying, I love Apex Legends. I’ve stated before how happy I am that Respawn has decided to give their own take on the Battle Royale genre, as they know how to make a superb shooter. With Apex Legends, Respawn has set out to solve many of the problems that shadowed other Battle Royale games and there aren’t many things I can complain about when it comes to the mechanics. There’s just one thing that irritates the hell out of me when playing Apex Legends, those dame death boxes.
To many, the death box is something that brings about joy. It either means you’ve just killed off an enemy or their opportunities for sick loot! For the most part, the death boxes don’t pose a problem. They are easy to spot and the color-coordinated system makes it easy for players to find out what level the items will be when they take a peek inside. However, they always get in the way. It’s been plenty of times I’ve managed to wipe a squad in a small room, only to be trapped by their corpses. It’s like one last middle finger to the victors of the battle. Oh, and God forbid these boxes are in the path of a doorway. They can easily keep you from getting to your teammates for that epic, “skin of the teeth” revive.
I just have one question. Why aren’t we allowed to freely walk through these pesky death boxes? Would it break the game if we were able to just pass through these boxes at will? I don’t wanna seem like I’m complaining about a nearly flawless game. How do you guys feel about the death boxes?
