Who Is Yuri Briar?
Yuri is Yor Forger’s younger brother. He makes an appearance in the series for the first time in episode 8 of “SPY x FAMILY” when we get to see how witty and analytical he is during an interrogation. During this episode, Yuri also shows up to meet Yuri’s new husband Loid Forger. This is a pivotal moment in the series because we get to see the love Yuri and Yor have for each other and we know that this could cause some sort of clash between Yuri and Loid, due to Loid’s relationship with Yuri and the mission at hand.
What is Yuri Briar’s Job
Yuri is a member of the secret police with the State Security Service. At only 22 years of age, he is seen as a dedicated member of the secret police. When we first see Yuri, we find out that he is aware of the super spy Twilight (Loid Forger) and how much is willing to put an end to his escapades.
This, of course, is a pivotal moment in the “SPY x FAMILY” series as this leads viewers to expect an entertaining conflict between Yuri and Twilight, even though Yuri is unaware of the fact that his sister is marrying the villain he is trying to catch.
Yuri Briar’s Relationship with Other Characters
Yuri and Yor Forger
One of the most captivating aspects of Yuri’s character is his relationship with his older sister, Yor Forger. This sibling dynamic is layered with affection, devotion, and moments of conflict. Through their interactions, we see a different side of Yuri’s character. Join us as we delve into the complexities of their brother-sister relationship.
Why is Yuri Obsessed With Yor?
Yuri and Yor lost their parents at a young age. As a result of this, Yor stepped up to take care of Yuri as they grew up. Yor provided Yuri with everything he needed through the difficult times and this caused Yuri to develop a sister complexor siscon for short.
Now, Yuri is obsessed with Yor and wants to do everything in his power to make sure she is protected and well taken care of. Of course, in the show, this is portrayed as an unnatural love for his sister which is both hilarious and creepy at the same time.
Is Yuri In Love With Yor?
No, Yuri doesn’t have a romantic love for his sister but he does have a sister complex, meaning he is just really obsessed with making sure she is getting everything she needs because he wants to repay her for taking care of him at a young age. Yuri and Yor have a close relationship because of their devastating past, so it is easy to see why Yuri acts the way he does, even though it’s a bit overboard at times.
Does Yuri Know That Yor is an Assassin?
As of right now in the series, Yuri does not know that Yor Forger is an assassin. Despite his amazing analytical skills, Yuri has perhaps turned a blind eye to Yor simply because he adores his sister so much. Yor is, without a doubt, Yuri’s biggest weakness.
Is Yuri Briar Strong?
Yes, Yuri Briar is strong. Growing up with Yor has forced Yuri to adapt to the ways in which his sister raised him, for example, Yor is a terrible cook, causing most people to collapse after eating her food. Yuri, on the other hand, is able to eat her food and only vomit as a result. This has tempered Yuri’s organs and mind to a level of resilience that can be considered superhuman.
Another example of his strength comes from his physical resilience, which we see during the dinner he has with Yor and Loid. During this comical visit, we not only see how Yuri and Yor are within the dynamics of their relationship, but we also see how quick Yor is to fight Yuri. This, of course, is an act that has been established during childhood and it has directly influenced Yuri’s physical resilience. Yuri is beaten and bloodied by Yor’s hits during their dinner, but he is able to get up and keep moving despite his injuries.
In the manga, we can see this when Yuri is hit by a vehicle after pulling 4 all-nighters at work, something that would have certainly ended the lives of an average person. However, he was virtually unscathed by the occurrence.
Is Yuri a Villain?
Yes, Yuri is a villain/antagonist of the Spy x Family series. Yuri’s motives directly go against those of the main character (Twilight) making him a villain. Yuri is undoubtedly written into the show to enhance the dramatic irony of the series, as viewers get more engrossed as we want to see if Yuri’s instincts will eventually get the best of Twilight, foiling his mission.
As of right now, Twilight has gotten the best of Yuri with no indication of being found out or stopped. So as viewers, we will continue to watch as Yuri is one (or ten) steps behind Twilight.
Loid and Yuri
Loid is constantly winning the battle between the two characters. In fact, Loid is so far ahead of Yuri that he has uncovered Yuri’s true occupation. Yuri is still young, so he has time to grow, but we can’t help but look at Loid as the master spy he is!
Yuri’s character is not merely a background figure but a linchpin in the overarching plot of “SPY x FAMILY.” Key events and revelations revolve around his actions and decisions.
Conclusion
Yuri Briar is a pivotal character in the Spy x Family series. Whether you believe he is a part of the show to drive the plot directly or you believe he is there to make Loid look good and give us all a laugh, you can’t help but appreciate him as a character. He’s smart, strong, and has an undying love for his older sister, Yor. Anytime he shows up on screen, you know you’re in for a comical moment within the series.
Who knows how far Yuri’s jealousy for Loid over his sister will take him, so we’ll have to continue to keep our eyes glued to the screen as the plot continues to develop right before our eyes.
