New Shazam Trailer Offers DC Fans With Comedy and Action

The new Shazam Trailer just dropped less than an hour ago and it looks AWESOME!

Played by the Disney Channel Star, Asher Angel, Shazam greets fans with an action-packed and comedic trailer that is just what DC needs. We see our hero as a child before he gets the gift of electricity and the slick red suit. When Billy yells out “Shazam!” he is hit with lightning bolts and grows into a full-fledged adult, played by Zachary Levi. At this point, he is capable of using his powers.

Shazam is directed by David Sandberg, who is responsible for films including Annabelle the Creation and Lights Out. It’ll be interesting to see how he does with a more light-hearted, super-hero movie, rather than a horror film.

It’ll be interesting to see how David Sanberg will make use of Billy’s innocence as a character-building opportunity, after all, he is literally a child in an adult’s body. From what we’ve seen in the trailer so far, Zachary Levi has done a great job harnessing the innocence of a young child during this role. We’ve seen Shazam blunder through training, fight common crooks and we’ve witnessed his first encounter with a true villain, Doctor Sivana, all in one trailer.

Shazam’s main enemy is Black Adam, who will be played by The Rock. The Rock seems like he will be a great fit for the role. We haven’t had the chance to see what Black Adam’s Costume will look like, so we’ll have to save that for another day. DC has had their struggles when compared to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but with the new Shazam trailer, things are looking much brighter for the company.

Shazam is set to release in April 2019. For more news on Shazam and all things gaming, be sure to subscribe to our newsletter.
